Richard Garey is originally from Jackson,
TN but now lives full time in Hannibal, MO.
He established Heritage Stage Productions
in 2002. He has a masters degree in
English from James Madison University
and has been acting for about 40 years.
Mr. Garey is an actor, director, and
playwright. However the title he likes best is
actor. He feels he does his best work in
front of a live audience. All of the shows
listed on this site have been written or
compiled by Garey himself. He takes great
pride in their historical accuracy.
He purchased the Planters Barn Theater in
2003 and when he's not doing shows there
he travels the country, and sometimes the
world.

Summer Season at the Planters Barn Theater May to
September. .Like a homecoming, Mark Twain Himself
returns author and humorist Samuel L. Clemens to his
Missouri birthplace and Hannibal home on the banks of
the Mississippi River. The show runs from May to
September in Hannibal's historic Planters Barn Theater.
Audiences experience a special encounter with the man
who made America laugh and inspired the world. It's a
great show full of hilarious comedy and compelling
drama. You won't want to miss this unique production of
Mark Twain Himself!
A Shepherd's Tale
A Shepherd's Tale, is an original play by Richard Garey.
Based on extensive research into the life of shepherds
living in Judea 2000 years ago, A Shepherd's Tale is the
tale of Esrom, shepherd of Bethlehem, a goat, a dog,
and the sheep. It is also the tale of two special nights.
Travel back 2000 years. Sample the sights, the smells,
